Hockey

Mon played well in LA, but they decided that since she can't make the practices or SCAHA games, they needed to sign two local goalies instead.

Gabe finally played in Redwood City… his team won 6-1.

We didn't go to the SJ girls tryouts so we'll just try to get Mon on a good Bantam A team this season (and maybe she can do some high school hockey at Redwood City depending on their needs and her schedule).

Jewelry

I made some new pieces that were snatched up immediately (thanks!).

Today's is Colin's birthday… I think he's 21.

Wednesday is Gabe's birthday.

Hockey

Mon will fill in for Gabe again tonight at Redwood City.  Originally she was going to go to the Summerhawks practice but I never heard if she's actually part of the team or not and I hate crashing the party, so we'll wait on that.

Tomorrow she leaves for LA.  I hope she enjoys her weekend.  She'll be in excellent company.  AND… she was just saying how she misses the girls from the U14 team last season.  I think she has a good time with them.  Now, if she can just get past the "nerves" or "pressure" thing she puts no herself.  Yeesh!

Gabe will go to Emery's defense clinic.  But I just looked at the times and it includes Friday!!!  Friday Gabe will probably be at Engineering until 1am.  It's their last day to work on the final.  He's been slaving for three weeks now, staying there until 8 or 9 each night.  Ugh!

Jewelry

I made a necklace last night.  That's not what it started out as.  First it was going to be a pair of earrings (matching earrings).  Then it became a non-matching pair of earrings.  Then when I was holding them together in one hand, I decided I much preferred how the two earrings looked together.  So I could have then made another to match, but I hate repeating my work (which is why I seldom make earrings), so instead I put it on a chain and made it into a necklace pendant.  I quite like it too.  Still not photo'd… probably Friday.

I have other new things to show you, but no time right now… hopefully tomorrow.

Things I am taking care of today

Mom finally called.  And thank goodness I saw Rick's text (but didn't see it until this morning).  Anyway, that's one worry off my mind.

I'm taking care of some paperwork.  Man, there is SO MUCH!  Streamlining my life is a lot harder than I imagined.

I am dedicating tomorrow to SRAJD membership (the new apps).

Getting orders out today.

Would like to get back to my presentation regarding sports and confidence.

Jewelry Musings

I noticed a ring on Etsy today that was completely wire-wrapped and featured three beads.  The beads were Czech glass and as expected had very little sparkle to them.  Actually, they looked quite dull if you must know.  And I'm thinking, "Why go to all the trouble of wrapping that entire ring, spending all that time with such meticulous care, only to use cheap and cheap-looking beads as the focal?

And this comes right on the heels of a similar muse.  There's a Mervyn's that's closing down in Alameda (and I forgot I was going to take the kids there… darn!).  Anyway, I wandered by the jewelry counter and had a look at the costume pieces on those rotating stands.  The designs were really quite nice (but we won't go there 'cause we KNOW where most of those designs come from), but if you get close you see what absolute crap materials the pieces are made from.  Ugh!

I need to attract customers who feel the same as I do about the components (and the craftsmanship).

Jewelry

I made a lovely bracelet last night.  It was a struggle only for one reason.  I'm quite fond of the beads I used; they are polymer clay beads I purchased when I was at BABE, I think.  Anyway, I seem to still have a pretty hard time parting with some of the beads that really speak to me.  I do have to get over that… I can't keep everything just to hoard it.  That's wrong for me.  I have two choices then.  I can make the jewelry and lovingly let it go… or I can make the jewelry yet keep one bead from each set and eventually make myself a keepsake necklace or something like that.  The only problem with that is that it doesn't work if the beads I bought were focals or pairs.  Ah well.

I haven't photo'd it yet.  Soon.

Other Jewelry Stuff

I've stepped back (at least temporarily) from some of the online jewelry forums.  Just feeling kind of ooky about things these days.  I don't really want to get too involved in some of the politics going on… and yet, unless you're out there yelling about your own jewelry all the time, it seems almost impossible to get noticed.  Quite the conundrum (unless you are a Taoist… which reminds me… I got another Wayne Dyer book… I quite like reading him).
