Hockey

So far I've got Gabe signed up for the Capital Thunder Junior A tryouts May 17th in Oakland.  As far as camps go, we've put in applications for Fresno and San Jose… and I want to add Vacaville and Sacramento.  Need to contact Tony Zasowski again and figure out his stuff regarding San Jose.

Jewelry

I'm doing a show (a fundraiser for Children's Hospital in Oakland) April-something.

Here's my stuff from last week (available, click on photo for link):

And tomorrow I should be able to show you four (or more) new ones that I hope to list tonight.

Family

The Penguins are on at 4:30, so after Mike gets the kids, he and Gabe will probably watch that while Mon and I work in her room and watch our 3-hour movie (I've already forgotten the title).

The kids are on Spring break this week.  I hope they enjoy it but also get caught up on chores and whatnot.

Well, as usual, the second I open this file my mind goes blank.  Maybe 'cause I'm anxious to get out of here now and get back to work on Mon's room.

Okay, TTYL!

SRA Jewelry

Did you check out the March entries yet?  Some fab offerings.  And… later this week I have some new additions for the Editor's Pick section.  Wait until you see those too.  Wow!

Hockey

The NorCal season is over.  The kids are already antsy to play more… somewhere.  Gabe did a drop-in at Oakland the other day (and had fun).  Monica got 1½ exhibition games in Sunday and Monday with a team from Vancouver.  I've been calling, emailing, and searching the internet for appropriate stuff for them for Spring and Summer.  The problem is… well, the usual one.  But I have a good lead on a possibility in Sacramento.  I also need to have Gabe assessed over the summer if he's to try out for AAA this fall.  Monica things there's NO WAY we'll be able to pay for girls hockey this fall so she's already mentally accepted that she won't be doing that, but I've not given up yet.

Today's Great Pictures

Ah, the internet…

Listings

I have to clear my house of "things", whether I want to keep these things forever or not.  So I'm starting with a big push to sell all my estate and vintage jewelry… ALL OF IT!  This will take some time and I hope that doesn't cut into my creative life TOO much, but I'll feel better when it's all gone and into the hands of other people.

BTW, here's what has sold that I forgot to show you.  Sorry!

If I have time, later, I'll put two new bracelets up for your perusal.

ADHD

Just read an article about five foods that should be avoided by people with ADHD.  Truthfully, it seems like these five foods should be avoided by ALL people, or at least only eaten in moderation if at all.

They are: sugar, salt, caffeine, hydrogenated oils, and additives.

Youth Hockey

Three final games for my goalies this weekend.  Monica dressed for her PeeWee team's final game.  It turned out to be the only game they won this season.  And although I understand why the coach kept the other goalie in net from beginning to end, I don't agree with that decision.  I think I just need to bite the bullet and make a full transition for Monica from the Oakland rink hockey teams to the San Jose girls' team.  If there's a boys team out there that wants Monica as a supplemental goalie during the season and will work with her when she's there and play her when she's there, I will consider that too, since she really likes playing on co-ed teams too.  The hockey IS different from boys' to girls' hockey and Monica still likes experiencing both.  Too bad money is usually the main thing standing in her way.

Gabe's Midget 16 game was first thing Sunday morning after that darn Republican daylight savings time hour loss.  He didn't play well.  The team lost their final game.

He looked tired all day.

He played with the Midget 18's in the afternoon and although he still wasn't playing well, the team managed a win.  It was a good way to end the season.  Everyone met at Chevy's afterward for the end-of-season get-together.  It was nice.

I'm trying to organize and sign the kids up for goalie camps this spring and summer but it's really hard when they are still court-ordered to go to their dad's on certain days of the week and I don't want to commit to $100+ per day for camp if they won't be allowed to go.  Ugh!

Misc

As if I'm not disgruntled enough by the darn time change, my work computer goes and skips ahead TWO hours.  Talk about freaking me out.

Musing

After years and years of searching, I think I may have finally found something I was looking for.  It's a philosophy (although some would say a "religion") that meshes very well with how I feel about things.  It's Taoism.  More later.

Jewelry Update

I got some photos of the new stuff, but haven't had a chance to list it yet.  Then yesterday I made a three-strand Tourmaline bracelet that I love.  No photo yet.

Don't Forget!

Daylight savings time goes into effect (ugh!) for some of us this Saturday night.  And also don't forget that some things (cell phones, computers, etc) set automatically via satellite.

Important Information for Parents

I think this is worth being aware of.  The Snopes article explaining the truth of the "dust off" story.

Jewelry Update

I finally got some photos of my latest creations.  Some of these are collaborations with Monica.  (As usual, clicking a photo will take you right to the item for sale.)

Let's hope I can find time to make more things this weekend.  It's so much fun!

Just Stuff

Well, other than regular life (getting kids to school, doing my day job, etc), I actually got some other stuff accomplished.  The kind of things I hate doing so I put off, usually until it's too late.  Ugh!

I had a nice long chat with Wells Fargo Financial, the owners of my house, and we agreed to try to work together to keep both of us happy.

I mailed off the application for Gabe to take his first year of Juniors prep camp.

I mailed off my agreement to do a show.  I know, I'm always saying I hate doing shows, but this one is a fund-raiser for a really great cause and the women there are generally very nice.

Jewelry Update

I hope to at least shoot my new stuff tonight.  Maybe I can use my lunch hour tomorrow then to list the items.  I'm kind of excited about some of the new things.

My gallery page is coming along.  But seeing as how I'm so prolific (*cough*sputter*), it's a rather time-consuming affair.

Maybe I'll varnish the pc beads tonight.  Then I can start working with them by tomorrow.

Well, that wasn't OVERLY exciting, but at least it was an update.  I'll leave you with a few of my faves from I can has cheezburger…

Family News (aka Mostly Hockey)

Too many things going on to do more than give you the highlights.  The girls' season is over.  They didn't place well in Districts but they still seemed to have fun.  I think mostly they all just seem sad that the season is over.  We'll have to find stuff to do because Monica's already going stir-crazy knowing that her season on the Bears will end this weekend too.

Gabe's Midget-16's had an amazing tournament experience in southern California.  There swept all five games, with three of them being come-from-behind wins.  They got the championship trophy and participation medals.  Yay boys!  Oh, and the hotel actually complimented the parents/coaches in attendance saying this was the most well-behaved group of hockey players they'd ever seen and the team is welcome back anytime.  Whoohoo!

Gabe's also been helping fill in with the Midget-18's.  Mostly (if not all) losses but they are CLOSE games.  This Sunday Gabe will play his last NorCal game with the 16's in the morning, then play the last NorCal game with the 18's in the afternoon.  Then I believe the 18's are all going out to dinner afterward and to thank Rob for being such a great coach and hopefully Darisa who really was awesome to the team all season.

Gabe finally got a new ($450… ouch!) chest protector and Monica gets his old one.  And Mon replaced the stick she broke in Arizona.

I need a sponsor if Monica wants to (and she does) play U14 next year.

I'm also putting the finishing touches on my presentation of "The Mental Game".  Wonder if anyone will take advantage of my offer.

Update on The Bead Party

So far we have:

Me

Alex

Patrice

Wendy

I need to get the word out s'more.  And we need to consider a date.

Fun Stuff

Totally cool video of underwater marvels.

This is just a fun clip of a golden retriever puppy learning to enjoy snow.

Here are two heart-warming videos of reunions.  The first is the reunion of a lion with the two men who raised him as a cub.  Here's a webpage with the story.  And the second one is a reunion of a lion with the lady found a wounded and malnourished lion on the verge of dying in the forest. She took him to her house and nursed him back to health. When the lion recovered, the woman sent him to his new home, an animal sanctuary.  This video was filmed when the woman went to visit the lion six years later.

And five ragdoll kittens playing on a cat structure.  (Not as heart-warming as lion love but still entertaining.)

Helpful Stuff for Beaders

Here are two links I think some people may want to bookmark.  This one has all kinds of charts and tables on measurement conversions, etc.  And this one has a great glossary and useful charts and tables.

Recent Creations

And now the ego-centric stuff.  I made some new stuff but haven't photo'd it yet.  And I made my first polymer clay beads (actual beads!) but I'm not done with them either.

So until I get the new stuff photo'd, I took a couple of items and put them on the auction block.  (Click an item to go to the auction)

And that's life for the moment.  All my spare computer time is being used to process the backlog of SRAJD applications.

TTYL!
