Text Box: Latest News: I'm still behind in processing applications but they are moving along. We send out the acceptance letters in batches of about 100. For every 100, I get at least half a dozen that bounce. If you see your name on the roster but don't recall getting an email with your logo and other info, please contact me: Laura

SRAJD stands for Self-Representing Artist Jewelry Designer.

An SRAJD member sells the jewelry that they designed and created.

When you purchase from an SRAJD member, you are buying directly from and supporting the artist.

If you want to see the membership list and check out some of the websites where these artists can be found, click on the ROSTER icon in the menu to the left.

If you design, create, and sell your own jewelry, you are eligible for SRAJD status.

To apply you must (see application process below): Sell jewelry (or similarly related items like keychains, bookmarks, etc) that you or someone in your immediate family designed and made.  Yes, you may sell other things as well, but the SRAJD designation will be used to identify the jewelry items as made by you.

Cost: There is no membership fee.  However, since I donate my time and website to the project, I am now accepting small donations to assist with the weekly maintenance of the group (PayPal to srajd@brackendesigns.com).  Your membership is not affected in ANY way whether you donate or not.

Member Benefits: You don’t receive anything tangible from the SRAJD organization, but you benefit from being part of a growing grassroots effort to raise customer awareness of the difference between artists trying to sell their own creation versus middlemen trying to make a buck off of slave labor and/or assembly-line craftsmanship.  But connecting with others and being part of a team that strives to improve conditions for the artist can be considered a reward and/or benefit.  Go to the Message Board and touch base with your peers!

Upcoming News: Once in a very great while, we will send out an email.  It is not an option to be on the SRAJD mailing list.  The list is to inform you of any changes and/or upcoming events in the group.

APPLICATION PROCESS

NEW!!! ONLINE APPLICATION FORM   Fill out my Wufoo form!  Powered by Wufoo

If you prefer to go the old fashioned route, see below:

(the application process is short, so please read the questions carefully… it doesn’t take much time and it helps me greatly in processing your application):

Note: Part of the reason there has been a delay in processing applications is that I get a wide variety of interpretations to the four simple questions.  I will continue to rephrase the questions for clearer understanding of what I'm looking for.  Until then, I spend a lot of time researching what an applicant intended to say and that takes a lot of time.

If you want to apply for membership, please email your answers to the following questions:

Email to: Application@BrackenDesigns.com

  • NAME
  • How do you want your name (your name, not the name of your business) listed on the public roster?
  • I prefer a first name and a last name.  Don't add a middle name or initial unless there's a good reason.  Don't give me a first name only… you will be lost in the crowd and will be totally unsearchable.
  • If you give me the name of your business instead of YOUR name, it will delay your application by up to a month.
  • EMAIL ADDRESS
  • If you want your email address on the public roster, put that email addie for question #2?
  • If you don't want your email address on the public roster, please say "not on public roster".
  • WEBSITE
  • The idea behind THIS question is that customers peruse the roster and want one main place (URL) to click to see your jewelry.  If you could only have ONE place to show them, where would it be?
  • Only one!
  • A lot of applicants are putting their blogspot address here and then telling me about their Etsy and eBay stores in question #4.  That's fine if you really want potential customers to go to your blogspot to see your jewelry.  If not, please give me the ONE online place you want to send your potential jewelry customers.
  • I also get a lot of applications that state they have no website and then they tell me they sell on Etsy.  Your Etsy store IS a website.
  • Where do you want us to direct your customers?
  • OTHER ONLINE SELLING
  • Okay, now ASIDE from wherever you want us to direct your customers, where else is your jewelry available online? (eBay, Etsy, JustBeads, RubyLane, etc)?
  • Give the name of the selling site AND the ID you use there (those of you who give me ID's without telling what site they're for are delaying your applications by up to a month)

(example: eBay=BrackenDesigns; Etsy=BrackenDesigns, etc)

If you don't sell anywhere online, you must include with your application two photos of your jewelry.

  • You may only use the SRAJD logo assigned to you (it will include your member #).
  • You may not sell mass-produced or otherwise not produced-by-you jewelry in conjunction with the logo.
